No more ICQ for hal
Well my ICQ account settings were deleted (moslty) from the AOL/Mirabilis/TimeWarner (whatever) servers so that I can not log in. ICQ seems to be a mess, and the source of spam etc... so I have abandoned any use of ICQ. I am available on many other IM services. AOL: haleagar MSN: haleagar yahoo: hal_eagar I can't remember when but many years ago my little sister Katy Newcomb (11 years younger and a early teen at the time) got in to ICQ for it's social use. I got it to chat with her since she was in Hawaii, and I am in NYC. I liked it and instituted it as an office tool, even though we were in the same room. I did this by installing it on everyones PC and setting them up an account, and every computer we had was directly on the internet with a static IP back then WOW times have changed. I found it very useful in passing URL's around rather than shouting them across the room, and the invariable typos that would occur. I also found it a less intrusive method to report completion of small tasks. I also used it to pass phone messages to people, replacing the pink message pads. Now days we have IP phones, and web access voice mail, so no need to take messages myself anymore :)
Not realy going anywhere with this, just recording a little mundane life, and sorry I'm not on ICQ if you've got me in your list, I'll never be online again. by by 2058852 |
